Local Groups
Bonfire-San Antonio, TX
Bonfire brings people together in real-world spaces, to grow, learn, and spark change — together, in person. We’re building community right in your backyard, with events and gatherings that offer opportunities for personal, professional, and political engagement and fulfillment. If you are looking for connection and joy, seeking inspiration or have some to share, we have a seat by our fire for you! Bonfire was created for women of all ages and backgrounds, but is not exclusive to women. Created in partnership with Red Wine & Blue’s TroubleNation, Bonfire groups are local communities led by volunteer organizers who want to bring people together where they live. TroubleNation provides the tools, training, and support to help these groups grow and thrive — while keeping community building at the center.

Elections Matter Now
This is a non partisan group focused on uniting with millions of other pro-democracy Americans for nonviolent noncooperation with the authoritarian regime ruling our country at this moment in history. According to historian Heather Cox Richardson, our country has been here before and survived. This time let's do better than survive and work together to build a democracy that works for everyone, not just the white oligarchs of our country and the world. Republicans, independents and democrats that want to participate in fighting for democracy, are welcome here! Bring your ideas and your energy. Together we'll brainstorm opportunities for each one of us, that'll fit our individual styles to work on crumbling the pillars that are supporting the authoritarians! 1. We have to continually stand up and sound the alarm as the Trump Administration and authors of Project 2025 press on rolling out the Project 2025 agenda and ending democracy. 2. There are many ways to be part of the democracy defending movement: a. call congresspeople in our state and all across the country b. rallies c. postcarding/letters d. community networking e. I'd love to hear your ideas too 3. Do all we can to help get democrats elected in 2026, sending them to congress so they can impeach the wanna be king. 4. Get democrats/independents elected down ballot in 2026 to prevent Project 2025 from being carried out at the state level. 5. Dark money will be pouring into elections. We need to educate and encourage voters to consider who is paying for the media messages & how they're trying to manipulate our votes. 6. Work with our swing state democratic parties in any way we can to help turn out voters sending a loud, clear message to MAGA extremists that WE ARE NOT GOING BACK, WE ARE MOVING FORWARD.

NJ Voters Want More Say
We are nonpartisan group of citizens focused on reforms to make the political process more responsive to New Jersey voters for better government. Members are from Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties primarily. New Jersey voters are dissatisfied and disengaged with politics in our state. We successfully fought with the statewide coalition Fair Ballot Alliance for Fair Ballots for 2024 US Senate primary elections to lay groundwork for the successful federal lawsuit that ended the 'county line'. There's more to be done in NJ and nationally with the new onset of political turmoil. We are launching anew on the Trouble Nation platform now in January 2025, initially on Zoom then hybrid with in person meetings. We'll decide what our primary focus points will be in our initial meeting date TBA. Options: 1) Here in New Jersey, the 2025 primary elections will actually be determined more by candidates connecting with voters, instead of pleasing unelected county party chairpersons. That poses a great opportunity to educate NJ voters on our new power to determine who wins primary elections. 2) There has been a disappointing capitulation of long respected news outlets to a much more biased coverage of news. We can collect & share resources of balanced, truthful news coverage to counter misinformation and disinformation. 3) There are several new entities formed in order to defend democracy from a cross-partisan standpoint. We can use their resources to plan our efforts and actions. One of these reports is linked in op-ed "American democracy is in crisis. We have a playbook to defend it" written by two scholars from the Brookings Institute, source of the original Marshall plan to rebuild democracy for Europe after WW II, Norm Eisen and Jonathan Katz use the experiences of Brazil and Poland to fend off the backsliding in their democracies. https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/trump-democracy-crisis-brazil-poland-rcna188134
