Defending Democracy in Hampden County

DDHC is a local organization in Hampden County, Massachusetts, focused on educating and supporting our community, bringing together like-minded people of various backgrounds, and standing together in the fight against authoritarianism. As a nonpartisan group of concerned citizens, we work together to protect democracy against extremism and misinformation, to protect human rights, voting rights, ensure fair elections, and promote civic engagement in the various towns that comprise Hampden County. "I do believe very strongly that America's democracy is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it - every single person, their willingness to fight for and respect the importance of our democracy. Otherwise, it is very fragile and it will not be able to withstand moments of crisis." Kamala Harris Website: www.ddhc.us Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ddhc.2026

The Tyranny Disruption Front

We bring together people in our community who feel strongly about protecting democracy and uniting around liberty and justice FOR ALL. This group has three primary goals: 1. Save democracy by causing good (nonviolent) trouble. We are terrified of a country that so easily believes the lies of an authoritarian sociopath, state media that pushes extreme right-wing propaganda, and a government that denies its citizens a living wage, affordable healthcare, education, and strips away our rights for the benefit of billionaires and corporations. We are the legs this country stands on, and it's about time we remind them. We are brave enough to recognize our fear and courageous enough to do something about it. 2. Consistently and persistently take action. We stand behind the minority members of our society: women, veterans, people of color, immigrants, LGBTQ+. We defend the right and freedom to exist as you are, love who you want, and to do so without discrimination, but with encouragement. We fight hate with love because it is infinitely stronger. No one is above the law, and everyone is entitled to due process. 3. Build community. Our different skills, knowledge, experience, and solutions make us stronger, smarter, and more capable. We support each other and are building connections. From martial law (and other worst-case scenarios) to walking dogs to help a friend who twisted their ankle, we're here for each other. Education and awareness are the name of the game, and girl, do we love to play. Empathy and respect are the rules, and with that said, do not go gently into that dark night…. Voices for Common Ground

We are a group of diverse and forward-thinking women and men united to pursue positive change for our community. We do this by educating ourselves and others about meaningful political concerns, such as advocating for women's reproductive freedom and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, so we are empowered to discuss issues with clarity and confidence. We want to make politics safe to discuss again as ultimately, we seek to lift up the dignity and rights of all citizens.

Momentum Blue Seattle

We’re a women-led group in the greater Seattle area working to defend democracy and support one another through meaningful action, community, and courage. You can visit us here: https://sites.google.com/view/mbseattle/home We Stay Grounded in Three Commitments: 1. Resist and speak up — through action, visibility, and mutual encouragement. 2. Build community — We stay organized and connected with like-minded people and partner groups. This helps us to find sanity, hope, and even joy in the work. 3. Reimagine a better future — We follow the unfolding fascist disaster closely, but we also keep our eye on the ball of reimagining the future we will build on the ashes of this time. We meet both virtually and in person, so we keep membership local to the greater Seattle area. Members stretch from Shoreline to Renton and the Eastside — with a few “long-distance cousins” cheering from afar. Our activities include: Weekly check-in and planning meetings online. All MBS members are encouraged to attend. Postcard writing parties. We're now in the lead up to the midterm elections and we are ramping up our efforts. Please join us in writing postcards. All are welcome. We make and distribute protest signs and buttons. This is probably what we are best known for locally. See our Signs for Democracy! page and our BUTTONS page. We also coordinate a T-SHIRT fundraiser for WAND (Washington Neighborhood Defense). A monthly reading/discussion group (online). Sometimes we read a book or selection of articles and sometimes we watch a selection of videos. We look for materials to help us re-vision a future of care for all rather than profits for a few. We welcome all MBS members and friends.

Sarah Harris Was Here

Our group intends to organize locally and bring together community members frustrated with the rise and general acceptance of extremism. The vision is a community action group which will impact the political landscape where we live. We will start with pressing issues we notice immediately in our community, and as we grow, so will our reach! We are a non-partisan group and anyone hoping to make a better future is welcome to join us. No prior experience is necessary and all ideas for non-violent resistance are welcome.
