CO Public Education Good Trouble Team

Howdy, Colorado! This is a nonpartisan and multi-partisan group that brings together people and groups around Colorado who support public education. We work together in many different ways - depending on our own needs, talent and time. We grew out of an informal group of grassroots people from communities around Colorado who have been working together for the past year (and more) - not just Denver and the Front Range. Some of us align with a specific political party and others don't. Some people in our network have established groups for their school district already. Others are just 1 or 2 people who want to make an impact but think they are alone! We help our fellow grassroots community members and groups learn about and understand the complex issues related to school boards, districts, and public education so they can TAKE ACTION, whether that's a simple as being an informed voter, or organizing in their community. Our superpowers: Communication. Connections. Community. And Cross-Pollination. Members of our group share a commitment to public education that is effective, accountable, and inclusive. This includes a focus on elected and employed leaders, and their vendors, who demonstrate a commitment to leading with integrity, transparency and respect for the common good. To quote one of our community members: We work in the cracks. We collaborate to share strategy AND tactics related to far-right extremist attacks on public education. This includes reaching out to national resources on behalf of others in Colorado. We also deploy our network to help others rapidly scale up as grassroots efforts come together. We embrace the many different lanes where our community members, friends, and colleagues work. After all, it takes a village! ICYMI: Members of our group also lead the launch of Colorado State Caucus for Democracy and Education. Reporter and education writer Karin Chenoweth founded Democracy and Education in the fall of 2022. Since then, it has grown to include a vibrant group of school board members, former members, candidates, and people involved in school board campaigns from all over the country, many of whom have successfully faced down extremist threats.

Loveland Takes Action

We are a group of women from Loveland, OH who are ready to take action against extremist policies. Our main focus will be on: 1. Reproductive Rights 2. Gun Violence Prevention 3. LGBTQ Issues 4. Education Issues. We do not want this group to be performative in any way. Instead, we intend to remain proactive in identifying and confronting extremist policies and agendas, whether they arise in the state legislature or at our local school board level. ***Meetings will be held on the 2nd Monday of every month and we will also be hosting an activism book club on the 4th Thursday of the month. Both will take place at Bike Trail Books in downtown Loveland.
