WakeTFup

On tyranny lesson number 10 Believe in truth. To abandon facts is to abandon freedom. If nothing is true, then no one can criticize power, because there is no basis upon which to do so. If nothing is true, then all is spectacle. The biggest wallet pays for the most blinding lights. The Michigan open meetings act of 1975 allows any resident to speak in any district at any open meeting. There are over 40 opportunities to speak to the public in the county of Washington alone. At her most recent Townhall, representative Debbie Dingell had a specific ask. Get out into the community and speak truth, tell stories, and help our communities understand the impact of these policies and what they can do to fight back. The purpose of this group is to get as many people as possible into every open meeting in Washtenaw County. If we could get at least three people to commit to every meeting, we could tell the truth about this administration‘s policies, we could convey the stories of individuals who are being directly impacted by those policies, and we could help communities understand how they will be impacted by those policies and what they can do to fight back Some people find it difficult to speak in public because they don’t know what they will say. We will be working on scripting for those three part presentations at each meeting or you can speak your heart. If speaking in public isn’t your thing, we can still use your help writing scripts And/or supporting people that do speak in the meetings. let’s get out there and tell the public what they need to know and understand.

Bonfire Massachusetts - Cambridge/Strawberry Hill

This Bonfire is for women who live in Cambridge's Strawberry Hill neighborhood (including Aberdeen & Homer Ave). We are keeping this group hyper-local, bringing us together for monthly in person gatherings in our living rooms, backyards, community center, cafes, etc... The goal of this Bonfire is to create connection and a felt sense of community in our little corner of Cambridge. In addition to monthly gatherings focused on personal, professional, and civic engagement, we also share resources and opportunities like taking care of the bike path, heading out for dancing, collecting food donations, neighborly advice, etc.... If you are looking for connection and joy, seeking inspiration or have some to share, we have a seat by our fire for you. Bonfire was created for women of all ages and backgrounds, but is not exclusive to women. Created in partnership with Red Wine & Blue’s TroubleNation, Bonfire groups are local communities led by volunteer organizers who want to bring people together where they live. TroubleNation provides the tools, training, and support to help these groups grow and thrive — while keeping community building at the center. As a sober person, the head of the Strawberry Hill Bonfire does not like having the word "wine" involved with the name of this organization, but understands it's origins and why it is being used. Please know our monthly Bonfire gatherings are alcohol free. If you don't live in the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Cambridge, please click "Contact Organizer" above so the head of the group can talk to you about what it would be like for you to start your own Bonfire. It would be amazing to have more groups in Massachusetts. If you do live in Strawberry Hill, please click above to "Join Group". Don't worry about answering the questions about what you are interested in or whether you campaign or are part of other groups. Instead, please share what street you live on and who referred you to this Bonfire. 🔥🔥🔥

We C.A.R.E (Community, Action, Research & Education)

We C.A.R.E. (Community Action, Research & Education) is a diverse, community-based, action-oriented group that brings people of all backgrounds & abilities together to make a meaningful difference in the South-Central Ohio region. We organize because we love our community and we’re done waiting for someone else to fix it. We are committed to encouraging respectful/informed dialogue, promoting civic engagement and working collaboratively to ensure a vibrant and inclusive community for all. Our goal is to create a network of highly-motivated, compassionate people to identify critical issues facing South-Central Ohio where we can be the most effective and execute supportive actions as quickly and efficiently as possible. We seek to find those in need, empower one another to act and help fill in the cracks in the community. We will also utilize a variety of research methods and tools to identify and explain issues that are not widely reported, but extremely important to our people and our community. This is a nonpartisan and multi-partisan group that brings together a wide variety of people and groups. Some of us align with a specific political party and others don't. Some people in our network are part of established community groups, and some people are individuals who simply want to make an impact but think they are alone. We will work together in many ways depending on our own needs, talent and time. Most of our organizing and meetings will be conducted virtually through Facebook and Zoom; however, we will meet up for action days and a variety of fun activities designed to relieve stress and build friendships. Together, we'll stay informed, engaged, and empowered to make a difference in our community and beyond. Our meetings are designed to discuss relevant topics, share actions needed immediately, and rally our troops to take action. We are in a time of information overload. It is often difficult to keep up with all the important topics at any given time, so we welcome people to champion an issue, inform the group on it, and plan the action(s). We are an independent group but also part of the Red, Wine & Blue Network community so we have access to workshops and tools to help us in our efforts.

Coalition Builders for Action

Our group, the Leona Huddle, is an established activist group since 2017 with about 35 or so regularly attending members at our monthly meetings. We have a Facebook page (Leona Huddle) and our members get a weekly newsletter. We are now expanding to add a quarterly meetup to include other activist groups in Tampa to work together to register voters, contact elected officials about our issues, write letters and emails, make calls, canvass, etc.
