Eat, Drink and Protect Democracy

Eat, Drink and Protect Democracy Based in Salem, Oregon, the focus of this group is to support one another as we monitor and respond to state (and national) threats to democracy that restrict civil and human rights. Each meeting will begin with informal networking over wine (no hard alcohol) or N/A drinks, move into a potluck dinner and end with a formal meeting. If you just need to vent, this is not the right group for you. The goal is to support one another but also hold one another accountable for doing our part to protect democracy. The formal meeting will entail: 1. Headspace check-in and accounting of last month’s commitments. (5m per participant). 2. Review the Democracy Watch (https://www.democracywatchtracker.com/search?q=oregon) legislative tracker to identify an issue that we want to address as a collective (only when the last issue was thoroughly addressed). The host may also invite a guest speaker to extrapolate on an ongoing issue. 3. Collectively divide tasks which will require each individual to step up. This might entail making calls, visits /writing letters to reps, testimony and/or participation in a protest to address the issue while recognizing that some issues may take more than one month to address. 4. The meeting will end with a quick discussion on a theme for the following month’s potluck (international food, bbq, etc.) and decide who is bringing what. The point of this group is to support and hold each member accountable for actions taken to protect democracy. Host Provides: 1. A clean, comfortable venue for the monthly events. (max capacity: 14). 2. Plates and silverware. 3. Cleaning of glasses/plates/silverware. 4. Filtered water and glasses. Requirements: 1. You are willing and able to do SOMETHING to protect democracy. 2. You are accepting and open to diverse viewpoints that align with democratic principles. 3. You are willing to bring a dish to share and, if you wish, some extra to share for those who are struggling 4. A bag to haul your personal dirty serving dishes/utensils. 5.. Drinks other than water (no hard alcohol) and, if you wish, some extra to share for those who are struggling.

Good Trouble Appalachia

In a state that leans as strongly red as Tennessee, it’s not uncommon to feel a sense of isolation, especially when you have a perception that the country is taking a turn for the worse. You're not alone. This is your safe third place to discuss political matters and current events. Our local group connects like-minded people in our community who want to work with others who share their values to protect democracy on the local, state, and national levels. Together, we can think outside the box and create a plan to make our opinions known, as many of us feel ignored by those in power. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.

Seismic Resistance

We exist to expose and dismantle false patriotism and corrupt leadership through bold action and unwavering truth. We call on all who believe in democracy, accountability, and the power of truth to stand with us. Work alongside those who refuse to be silent in the face of authoritarianism. Together, we will fight to protect our rights, our institutions, and our future. We’ve seen what this administration is capable of — and now, emboldened, they threaten to override the rule of law, the Constitution, and even the federal judiciary. This is our line in the sand. We must be bold. We must stand tall. We must band together. And we must take our country back.
