WakeTFup

On tyranny lesson number 10 Believe in truth. To abandon facts is to abandon freedom. If nothing is true, then no one can criticize power, because there is no basis upon which to do so. If nothing is true, then all is spectacle. The biggest wallet pays for the most blinding lights. The Michigan open meetings act of 1975 allows any resident to speak in any district at any open meeting. There are over 40 opportunities to speak to the public in the county of Washington alone. At her most recent Townhall, representative Debbie Dingell had a specific ask. Get out into the community and speak truth, tell stories, and help our communities understand the impact of these policies and what they can do to fight back. The purpose of this group is to get as many people as possible into every open meeting in Washtenaw County. If we could get at least three people to commit to every meeting, we could tell the truth about this administration‘s policies, we could convey the stories of individuals who are being directly impacted by those policies, and we could help communities understand how they will be impacted by those policies and what they can do to fight back Some people find it difficult to speak in public because they don’t know what they will say. We will be working on scripting for those three part presentations at each meeting or you can speak your heart. If speaking in public isn’t your thing, we can still use your help writing scripts And/or supporting people that do speak in the meetings. let’s get out there and tell the public what they need to know and understand.

Bonfire Thousand Oaks

Bonfire brings people together in real-world spaces, to grow, learn, and spark change — together, in person. We’re building community right in your backyard, with events and gatherings that offer opportunities for personal, professional, and political engagement and fulfillment. If you are looking for connection and joy, seeking inspiration or have some to share, we have a seat by our fire for you! Bonfire was created for women of all ages and backgrounds, but is not exclusive to women. Created in partnership with Red Wine & Blue’s TroubleNation, Bonfire groups are local communities led by volunteer organizers who want to bring people together where they live. TroubleNation provides the tools, training, and support to help these groups grow and thrive — while keeping community building at the center. Bonfire Thousand Oaks is part of a national initiative founded by Shannon Watts to ignite the power and potential of women through personal, political, and professional fulfillment. We build inclusive, joyful, and supportive spaces for local connection and meaningful change. Curious about a Bonfire event ? Come as you are. No prep, no pressure — just conversation, connection, info about upcoming events and a chance to shape what Bonfire can be in Thousand Oaks.

Coalition Builders for Action

Our group, the Leona Huddle, is an established activist group since 2017 with about 35 or so regularly attending members at our monthly meetings. We have a Facebook page (Leona Huddle) and our members get a weekly newsletter. We are now expanding to add a quarterly meetup to include other activist groups in Tampa to work together to register voters, contact elected officials about our issues, write letters and emails, make calls, canvass, etc.

New Jersey Public Education Coalition

The Coalition (NJPEC) is a Grassroots nonpartisan organization designed to preserve diversity and inclusion in our schools while preventing radical right wing injection of radical right wing Dogma and agendas. We have a Statewide network of Municipal Representatives who act as an early warning system for unethical and illegal action by Rogue board members and who helped to create coordinated local groups to provide our members with a voice against the opposition. We also accomplish our goal in coordination with New Jersey legislators as well as the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights, Attorney General's office and Governors Office.

Good Trouble Appalachia

In a state that leans as strongly red as Tennessee, it’s not uncommon to feel a sense of isolation, especially when you have a perception that the country is taking a turn for the worse. You're not alone. This is your safe third place to discuss political matters and current events. Our local group connects like-minded people in our community who want to work with others who share their values to protect democracy on the local, state, and national levels. Together, we can think outside the box and create a plan to make our opinions known, as many of us feel ignored by those in power. The power of the people is greater than the people in power.
