Women Defending Democracy-Western Fairfax

Women Defending Democracy – Western Fairfax brings together women who want to be informed, engaged, and intentional about their role as voters. We focus on understanding the policies, issues, and decisions that impact our daily lives—and turning that knowledge into action. Our members don’t just pay attention—we participate, organize, and vote with purpose. We learn from experts, gather in person and online, and equip each other with practical ways to take action—whether that’s advocating on key issues, supporting candidates, or mobilizing our communities. This is where information turns into momentum. The future of our democracy will be shaped by women who show up, get informed, stay engaged, and mobilize—and we intend to be those women. (The group is open to everyone, regardless of location; in-person events will be held in rotating locations around Western Fairfax - Burke, Centerville, Chantilly, Clifton, Fairfax, Fairfax Station, Herndon, Merrifield, Oakton, Reston, Tysons and Vienna)

Cup of Sugar

Cup of Sugar exists to create small, durable rooms of attention where care, dignity, and relationship can be practiced under civic fracture and climate disruption, without scale, spectacle, or extraction. Citizenship, here, is practiced quietly—in decency, responsibility, and shared life. Cup of Sugar begins with a familiar gesture: borrowing something small from a neighbor. Not an argument. Not a program. Just attention. We offer brief reflections on everyday American life—moments of care, repair, and response that sustain democracy long before policies or positions take shape. In conjunction with Cup of Sugar, I began writing a publication titled NOTICINGS, which arises from living under civic fracture and climate disruption. NOTICINGS quietly rejects the idea that democracy or repair is a solo act, or that constant breaking-news outrage can sustain either. Democracy endures through shared attention to what is essential for care, safety, and dignity. To read more, please visit: https://gotcupofsugar.substack.com/

Warriors For Democracy - We're Not Going Back

After we dust ourselves off and shed our last tears, let's regroup and come together to keep fighting for our democracy and our values. We can continue to make our voices heard. With so much out of our control on a bigger scale, let's keep focused on what we can do locally. Let's keep the record of our true history so we can pass it on to the next generation. Let's find a way to be the shining lights to help us all navigate through this darkness.

Bonfire - Pioneer Valley

Bonfire brings people together in real-world spaces, to grow, learn, and spark change — together and in person. We’re building community right in your backyard, with events and gatherings that offer opportunities for personal, professional, and political engagement and fulfillment. So many of us give so much--to our communities, to our workplaces, and to the causes we care about--that we forget to recharge our own batteries and remember what gives us inspiration, motivation, and joy. In this spirit, Bonfire - Pioneer Valley seeks to bring local women together to build social connection and mutual support as we live our values and work collectively to bring about meaningful change in our society. Our meetings take place in varied locations around the Pioneer Valley--from group members' homes, to cafes, to other local spots--with activities ranging from social meetings, to indoor and outdoor activities, to pursuing opportunities to give back to the larger community. Created in partnership with the Red Wine & Blue (RWB) Network, Bonfire groups are local communities led by volunteer organizers who want to bring people together where they live. The RWB Network provides the tools, training, and support to help these groups grow and thrive — while keeping community building at the center.
