We Deserve a Real Town Hall, Congressman Bresnahan

The residents of Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional District respectfully request that a public, in person town hall meeting is held. While we appreciate the recent telephone town hall, it does not substitute for a face-to-face dialogue where constituents can engage directly, ask questions, and express concerns in a transparent setting. Your role as our representative entails open and accessible communication. An in person town hall would demonstrate your commitment to transparency and accountability.

This isn't a partisan issue. This petition includes voters across the political spectrum - Republicans, Democrats, independents, and those who no longer feel represented by any party. In fact, many of the signers identify as conservative voters who supported you and now feel increasingly shut out of the political process. They're not looking for a fight - they're looking for leadership however, a leader cannot lead without honest conversation.

Too often, these calls for transparancy are dismissed as "left-wing" outrage. Let me be clear: the concern here is not ideological, it's foundational. Accountability, access, and representation are not partisan demands but American ones.

By refusing to hold public town halls, you are not avoiding confrontation, you are avoiding the very people who elected you. That's not strength, it's avoidance, and it's not what we need in a time of political division and distrust. We are asking you to step up, not step back.

Hold a public town hall in Luzerne, Lackawanna, or Monroe County and let the people speak and show them that you listen to understand, not just simply respond.

Why is this important?

This isn't just about one Congressman or one town hall, it's about reclaiming the power we've been taught to give away. Too many people feel ignored by the very leaders they voted for. They send emails, leave voicemails, ask questions but get silence in return. That silence isn't accidental, it's strategic. If they don't have to face us, they don't have to answer to us.

By joining this campaign you are refusing to accept that. You are standing up for something deeper than politics: the right to be heard. This is about Republicans who are tired of being taken for granted, Democrats who feel dismissed, Independents who feel invisible, and everyone who is sick of performative leadership instead of accountable representation.

You don't have to agree with each other politically to agree that your voice matters. Join us because when we show up together, they can't ignore us.
