- Alonna Berry brings a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted commitment to public service, making her a highly qualified candidate for legislative office. Currently serving as the Executive Director of the Delaware Center for Justice, she leads initiatives that provide legal assistance to low-income individuals, juvenile offenders, victims of crime, and seniors in need. Her role underscores her dedication to equity and justice within the community.
- Berry's background in education further highlights her qualifications. She began her career as a classroom teacher through Teach for America, teaching ninth-grade English and fifth-grade math. Her passion for education led her to found the Bryan Allen Stevenson School of Excellence (BASSE), a charter school in Georgetown focused on service-learning and community engagement. Her experience spans traditional district schools, the Delaware Department of Education, and nonprofit education sectors, showcasing her comprehensive understanding of educational systems.
- In addition to her professional roles, Berry has been actively involved in various civic organizations. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Delaware Community Foundation, appointed by Governor John Carney, and is the current president of the Syracuse University Alumni Association Board of Directors. These positions reflect her leadership capabilities and her commitment to fostering community development and engagement.
