The More You Know: Fighting Oppression in the Trump Era: Bay Area Troublemakers August 23 Meeting

The Trump Administration’s playbook looks all too familiar: keep people poor, sick, and uninformed, just as many authoritarian leaders have done throughout history. In the past eight months alone, we’ve seen sweeping changes in HHS, Medicare, SNAP, and the Department of Education that push us in that direction.

We’ll dig into these developments at our Bay Area Troublemakers meeting on August 23. Our guest speaker, Priscilla Kennedy, Ph.D., LMSW, is a professor and researcher at the University of Houston Graduate School of Social Work. She’s passionate about social policy and mentoring the next generation of social workers to stay true to their mission in today’s climate. Dr. Kennedy is also part of the team safeguarding the school’s accreditation with the National Association of Social Workers, focusing on policy changes that impact the social work profession.
