Teddy Bear and Paper Doll Drop Off
We are joining Stacey Abrams’ 10 Steps Campaign and Red Wine & Blue for the In-District Teddy Bear and Paper Doll Drop Off. Since January 2025, ICE has detained at least 3,800 children, and at least 1,000 children were held longer than 20 days, the court-ordered limit on child detention. We’re going to make these children impossible to ignore.

What to bring: A stuffed animal or doll (optional)
Supporters nationwide will drop off teddy bears and paper dolls to congressional offices to remind representatives and senators of the small children whose freedoms and mistreatment continue at the hands of ICE.
At The Caffeine Club, we will be attaching a tag to each teddy bear or stuffed animal and writing a child’s name and story (check the website at readthemhome.org) or a simple message: “A child in Dilley, TX is missing theirs.”
Together, we will then walk the short distance (¼-mile) to Dave Min’s office and stack the stuffed animals by the entrance to make a powerful image.
The campaign encourages us to record everything. “Shoot video and photos. Capture the pile. Capture people’s faces. Capture the building. Get a short clip of someone in your group explaining why you’re there (30-60 seconds is perfect). Post immediately. Use the captions and hashtags [that will be provided].”
On the way back to our cars, we will bring the stuffed animals to the corner of Adams and Harbor for more photo ops and visibility.
We selected Dave Min–who has a "mixed record" since he backed the Laken Riley Act and H.R. 35 while at the same time supporting Dreamers–for this awareness event as a local, amenable congressperson in a purple district.
Please RSVP and feel free to bring a friend!
