Stopping the Inola Smelter: Lessons From A Community That Took on a Polluter and Won!

Hi Good Trouble friends,

Thanks to residents who pushed back, the town of Inola extended its moratorium on aluminum smelting to April 7, 2027. On that same day, voters will decide on a citizen-led petition for a permanent ban.

The moratorium buys time, but it is not a permanent ban. Make plans to attend this important meeting.

Stopping the Inola Smelter: Lessons from a Community That Took On a Polluter and Won!

Monday, November 9, 6:00 pm
Ti Amo Ristorante, 61st and Sheridan

Our guest speaker is Sunny Leigh, a TV news anchor and the lead plaintiff in Franco v. Coronet Industries. Her community spent years living with an industrial polluter in Florida. They organized, went to court, and won. Sunny will share what they learned and what she wishes they had known sooner.

Bring a friend, especially anyone who cares about the air, land, and water around Tulsa.

See you there,
Teresa
