September Meeting - Fighting for Fair Districts

Did you know that Ohio is the only state that is *required* to redistrict this year? Because the Congressional maps that were drawn in 2022 were not bipartisan, new maps have to be drawn this year. We have already heard nationally that there are plans to cheat to make sure the Republicans don't lose the House. And right here in Summit County is one of the vulnerable areas that they'll be looking to take - but they're not going to do it without a fight.

UPDATE: The Joint Committee on Congressional Redistricting abruptly scheduled its first hearing for this Monday, September 22 at 11 a.m. This means testimony must be submitted by 11 a.m. Sunday, September 21! Our original plan was to work on this together at Monday's meeting, so we are imploring you to get busy on your testimony now, so our voices won't be thwarted.

Check your email for a letter from Organizing Ohio, which provided training on how to approach this call to action. The process of submitting testimony has been simplified to one simple form, which you'll find in the letter.

At Monday's meeting, we'll work on the following to keep up the pressure:
1. Share your story using MemoryFox for social media.
2. Submit an Letter to the Editor (LTE) with your story.

We will also embark on a postcard/bulk email campaign opposing media bias/censorship.
