SAVE THE DATE! Feb. 19 GTLFK Mtg - Guest Speaker: Lois Orth Lopes, local activist

Hello friends!
First, let's welcome our new members who have joined us here on our website since January 1st: Lynne Renick, Pamela Perry, Alison Smith, Sarah Kinder, Kelly Wall, Sandie Swaggerty, Kendal Paley, Larry Karns, and Carol Hedrick. Wow! We're so excited to meet all of you!!
Please make sure our monthly meeting is on your calendars. We are scheduled for every third Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is February 19, 5:30 - 7:00 PM.
The leadership team is working on the agenda for this meeting, but wanted to share some highlights now so that you can think about these topics and do some pre-work.
Our guest speaker is Lois Orth Lopes, retired teacher, member of local NAACP, volunteer for Dg Co Dems, Precinct Committee Member, trains poll watchers, etc. She will discuss her thoughts on political activism and what we can be working on locally. This discussion will fit right in with our goals for taking real action in our community. Please think about what questions you may have and if you can share them with us ahead of time, we can make sure Lois addresses them.
We will spend the second half of the meeting reviewing our sub-groups. We will send out a refresher on the groups we have established and who signed up for what very soon. Please be sure to review this information when we send it out and be ready to review and discuss the make-up of these groups, what the focus for each group should be, etc.
And finally, we discussed our "Letters to 2025" in our last meeting, but due to last minute changes we weren't able to have our therapeutic burning ceremony. If you wish to participate, please write your letter to the year 2025 - everything you want to say "goodbye" to, both personally and politically, and we will literally burn those letters at our meeting.
A full agenda and more details will come out before the 19th. We'll be meeting in person (at Ann's house) and we will also have a Zoom set up, so we hope you can join us. (If you're worried about flu and covid season, we encourage in-person participants to wear a mask.)
As always, if you're struggling emotionally during these tumultuous times, please reach out to any of our leaders to schedule a chat. It's our community that will get us through this. We are here for you!!
Yours in GOOD Trouble,
Gail (and our leaders - Ann, Hannah, Robin, Nuria, Marlys, Amy, Julie, Griffin)
