RWB Mount Vernon Hears from Public School Strong

This week, our group will hear from the organization, Public School Strong, and how they are working to build up public schools and fight against school vouchers in Virginia.

Public School Strong Virginia is a grassroots, community-led movement made up of parents, educators, students, and advocates working to protect and strengthen public education across the Commonwealth. As part of a broader national campaign, the group focuses on building “people power” to ensure every child, regardless of background or zip code, has access to honest, equitable, and fully funded public schools. 

In Virginia, Public School Strong organizes local communities through events, advocacy campaigns, and coalition-building efforts that push for increased school funding, improved infrastructure, and policies that support inclusive, high-quality education. Their work emphasizes connecting families and community partners, amplifying public voices, and resisting policies that could divert resources away from public schools.
