Rage Against the Regime Continues

WHAT
This Sunday August 17th, during Floodgate's Sunday service, which runs from 10-12pm, we’ll be out front of the church on Old U.S. 23 protesting from 9:30am-12:30pm. This time frame allows us to catch the traffic coming in and out so feel free to drop by anytime. We'll be on the easement of a busy road so this is not a good one for young children.

WHY
Dismantling libraries is part of this administrationʼs larger agenda of destroying democracy. Everyone should be concerned about censoring access to education and information as it's literally the first step to fascism. Cromaine library president and senior pastor of Floodgate Bill Bolin is working with the lawyers from Project 2025ʼs advisory board to bring the plan to reality here locally in Livingston County. Free access to information and education is a core foundation of democracy which is precisely what is under attack right here in our community.

Currently, books are being labeled at Cromaine library with pink stickers as “LGBTQ books”. More will start being sequestered soon. There's over 220+ books still being challenged with the request of having them removed from the library. We plan to keep the pressure on while the situation continues to unfold.

PARKING is at Mackle's Table and Taps address: 1774 N Old US 23 Howell (but this is indeed in Hartland at the Old U.S. 23 & M59 intersection) and then it’s a 1/ 4 mile walk down Old U.S. 23 to get to the church.

SIGNS are focusing on bible verses that the Regime is breaking. Other ideas: "Book banners are in our libraries" "Bolin brought Project 2025 into Cromaine" "Join us, defend democracy!" "No politics & religion in library policy" "Protect our libraries" "Save Democracy" “Cromaine is ran by book banners” "Defend our right to read" "Protect our freedom to information"

BATHROOMS can be found at the Speedway and fast food places around Hartland.

MORE INFO about the situation can be found in the 'discussion' section of this event: https://www.facebook.com/share/16xrCcuQ1R/

Mark your calendar for the Emergency Community Forum that SAGE is hosting at the Historic Hartland Music Hall on September 4th from 6-8pm to discuss the situation happening at Cromaine library since their board was flipped by expremists. We'll be discussing ideas on how we can work together moving forward as we fight back. This event is open to surrounding communities. There will be speakers as well as a facilitated community discussion so please come and have your voice included. There is limited seating, you must register by emailing [email protected] to reserve a spot. There is a $5 suggested donation to help cover the rental fee of the hall, but it is not mandatory.

Jon Oliver’s recent episode about ADF, the lawyers from Project 2025’s advisory board  that Bill Bolin is consulting with to create new discriminatory library policy. Learn more about Bill Bolin and what he’s about here.

ADF is designated as a hate group by the SPLC, they are currently working hard in the courts right now to overturn conversion therapy bans! ADF’s ultimate goal is eliminating LGBTQ+ American status as equal citizens in the courts.
