Public Education Advocacy Day

This event will be hosted by our Red Wine and Blue Network group in conjunction with a large group of public school advocacy groups from all over North Carolina.

North Carolina currently ranks 50th in the country for funding of public schools.  The Constitution of the State of North Carolina requires the Legislature to provide sound, basic education for all children in public schools in North Carolina.  For decades the NC Legislature has ignored this requirement.  The case of Leandro vs. The State of North Carolina in 1994 required the state to study and implement a plan to meet this basic requirement.  The case has been in the court system for the last 30 years and is currently in front of the NC Supreme Court yet again.

This being a midterm election year with all of our state legislators up for election, it seems like an appropriate time to bring this issue to the forefront and make our legislators accountable for the fact that we still don't have a state budget and or public schools are suffering.

Join us for a day in Raleigh to speak to your legislators and tell them you want our school's fully funded now!  You can register for this event here https://go.redwine.blue/ruk
