Protest Against Removal of Anti-Racism Policy by Calvert Co. BOE August 7 from 4:00 to 5:30

Dear Ms. Dantzler:
On June 12, the Calvert County Board of Education (BOE) removed the anti-racism resolution from the student code of conduct and instructed that the language be removed from the district’s websites and all social media channels. They also voted to revisit the district’s anti-racism policy, 1018, ahead of its regularly scheduled review time.

Maryland law, specifically COMAR 13A.01.07.03, mandates that educational entities, including county boards of education, adopt a written anti-discrimination policy.

Removal of the "anti-racism resolution" by the Calvert County BOE has raised concerns among many community members. Its elimination is viewed as undermining the spirit of Maryland's anti-discrimination laws. The BOE did not provide a reason for removing the "anti-racism resolution.”

I request that you keep a close eye on this BOE, because it appears that they do not have the welfare of all of our County’s children at heart.
