Protecting Our Rights & Saving Our Democracy

In honor of Women's History Month, Women's March Sussex is proud to host Delaware's Attorney General, Kathy Jennings. Ms. Jennings, our State's chief law enforcement officer, has the broad responsibility to combat crime, safeguard families, fight fraud, and protect consumers in the First State. Her presentation will focus on the collaborative work of the Democratic Attorneys General Association, including what is being done on the national level to preserve democracy. Ms. Jennings also will focus on what is happening with women’s issues in Delaware, particularly in regards to the Four Freedoms for women: Reproductive Freedom, Economic Freedom, Freedom to be Safe, and Freedom to Access Healthcare.
A moderated Q&A will follow the presentation. The evening will end with light refreshments and an opportunity for attendees to socialize.
Due to space constraints, each attendee must register in order to reserve a seat.
An option to view the event via Zoom is available. To register, go to tinyurl.com/WMSOnlineMar30. If you need help with the meeting link and passcode, email [email protected].

A native of Wilmington, Kathy Jennings joined the Delaware Department of Justice out of law school, starting her legal career as one of just two women in the Criminal Division. In the years that followed, she prosecuted scores of domestic violence, sexual assault, and homicide cases – including working with the FBI, New Castle County Police Department, and Delaware State Police to investigate and prosecute a serial killer who tortured and murdered five women. She would go onto serve as both State Prosecutor and Chief Deputy Attorney General, prior to entering private practice where she represented individuals and companies in criminal, regulatory and civil matters. She would return to the DOJ in 2011 as State Prosecutor under Attorneys General Beau Biden and Matt Denn. Prior to running for Attorney General, Kathy served as Chief Administrative Officer of New Castle County under County Executive Matt Meyer, managing personnel and budgetary matters for Delaware’s second-largest public employer. On January 1st, 2019, she was sworn in as Delaware’s 46th Attorney General.
