Prayer Vigil at the SC Statehouse

Prayer vigil in a public place
I received a text message this evening from American Friends Service Committee inviting me to join with the local Quaker community and Carolina Peace, along with AFSC, in a silent prayer vigil from 11 to 12 AM this  Saturday (2/21) at the State house. The link below takes you to the invitation / RSVP link. The invitation on the web link reads:

"Love as Action: Resisting Authoritarianism
Bearing Witness, Building Hope
Quaker public witness has stood in opposition to cruel and authoritarian actions in our country before. It is time for us to show this love in action again.
Please join the American Friends Service Committee, the Carolina Peace Resource Center, and Columbia area Friends to bear witness and show resistance to the authoritarian actions in our country.

On Saturday February 21 at 11:00am we will gather at the South Carolina Statehouse (intersection of Main and Gervais) for one hour of silent public worship. Note - This is part of the regular Saturday gathering at this location.

Our hope is that our presence will give hope to all who see us – to show that we can choose resistance - and remind everyone of our moral obligations to one another."

We gather monthly in communities across the country, showing our communities love in action as a public witness of our Quaker values in a time of rising fascism.

Join us!
