Poster Making Party to Make Signs for June 14th Protest
To prepare for the protest at the State Capitol on June 14th, our group is going to engage in a coordinated visual experience. We are going to all dress in white caps and white T-shirts (24 caps have been ordered and are $3 apiece for those who can pay), and we are going to carry uniformly sized black placards with white lettering in which each placard has short words demonstrating one of the signs of fascism. (We chose white instead of black because we are the good guys and because it's so hot in SC!)
To prepare our signs (or any other sign you wish to carry outside of this), we are having a sign making party! Volunteers are purchasing the black poster board, we are re-using foam boards, and someone is bringing a lettering machine for the white letters. Anything else, bring supplies! Also, we will pass a hat for the cost of supplies, as you are able.
We are meeting in the large conference room space of the law firm that Liz Zeck works for. The easiest access to the conference room, for those who can climb stairs, is to come up the outside stairs on the right side of the building as you are facing the building from the street. (There is parking in the back of the building.) For those who cannot climb stairs, there is a ramp and elevator at the back of the building. If you need this, call or text Liz ( 803-447-4419 ) or Xan (803-414-0185) and one of us will unlock the outside door for you.
Feel free to bring a snack or beverages, but no pressure to do so!
(BONUS! During our party, Cathy Radice, Laura Havercamp, Dottie Reynolds, and a few others who have read the book are going to summarize and tell us about the book "On Tyranny" by Tim Snyder. This is our "Lazy Book Club" idea in action!!!)
