No Kings! Peaceful Protest McAllen, TX

This is a peaceful protest against the ongoing federal coup and the accelerated dismantling of America's public institutions being perpetrated by Donald Trump and his administration. The demonstration will be held on the public sidewalks in front of the federal building in McAllen (Bentsen Tower) on Saturday, April 19th from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon.

Why April 19th and why the "No Kings" theme? This April 19th is the 250th Anniversary of the start of the American Revolution in Concord in the year 1775- "the shot heard around the world" when ordinary citizens stood against a King to fight for the creation of our democracy.

We are organizing this demonstration because we feel that it is critical for citizens to stand up bravely in the face of authoritarian threats, especially when our democracy, and the safety and lives of our friends and neighbors, are at stake. We hope that this “No Kings” protest and others like this consistently being held across the country will also gain the attention of the Republican members of Congress who seem to have ceded all of their power to Donald Trump. We hope that this will push them to listen to their constituents and hold Donald Trump accountable for his blatant violations of the Constitution.

Participants will be rallying against the following issues: • Blatant abuse of power • Dissolution of checks and balances • Executive Order overreach • Elon Musk and his DOGE agenda • Systemic injustices

Participants are encouraged to bring signs, dress appropriately for the heat (highs in the 90s are expected), and bring bottled water and snacks.
