Nationwide Amazon Boycott — May 6 through May 12

A series of boycotts have swept the U.S. since late February, framed by their organizers as an attempt to "take control back" from corporations they accuse of monopolistic and corrupt practices. While these have not yet resulted in noticeable impacts to the companies' operations, organizers have stressed their intention to continue with the efforts.

What To Know
The upcoming boycott is planned to run from May 6 through May 12.
During the previous boycott, it urged consumers to avoid any Amazon-owned or operated services, platforms, stores and companies. This included Amazon Prime, Whole Foods Market and the streaming platform Twitch.

What People Are Saying
The People's Union USA founder John Schwarz previously told Newsweek that the boycotts and economic blackouts were intended as "a peaceful, powerful reminder that we are the economy."

"Without our spending, without our participation, these systems don't move. We're not asking for chaos, we're asking people to think, to step back, and to realize how much power they already have," he added. "The more people who stand together, the louder the message becomes. It's time they understand, the people are organized, awake, and no longer willing to be ignored."
