Mutual Aid Support Meetup (First of Three)

EMHN Holiday Dinner
If you find yourself struggling in a world that increasingly feels hostile to empathy, meaningful connection, cooperation and community, you are not alone. Many of us find the current political, economic and social realities of living in the US hyper-stressful, overwhelming and exhausting. When big organizations, governments and other support systems on which we rely fall short, a little help from our friends goes a long way.

Join East Meck Hornets' Nest for a short series of monthly meetups where our members can share individual struggles in a non-judgmental environment and discuss ways to support each other. We will practice a form of "Mutual Aid," where neighbors support neighbors by providing emotional solidarity and sharing resources, services and skills to help meet immediate needs.

Examples of how we'll practice "Mutual Aid" could include:

  • Talking about how others in the group are navigating common challenges
  • Offering occasional childcare or pet-sitting to parents and pet owners in the group
  • Sharing personal stories to uplift and inspire each other
  • Borrowing or loaning out yard tools
  • Offering to run errands for a group member with a disability or chronic illness
  • Carpooling to the polls in October or November

If this sounds like the right fit for you, we hope you will join us! Location is a private residence in Mint Hill. Address is visible only to those who register to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

** Please note: "Mutual Aid" is peer-led and reciprocal. It is NOT a substitute for professional therapy or counseling. If you are currently in crisis or acute distress, please seek out a licensed mental health therapist or crisis support hotline.
