Mountain Women Move Mountains, August 20th working meeting

Hi Mountain people
This Thursday we will be at the Gilpin Library, 5-6:30 pm. I have ordered some more BlueWave postcards. Hopefully I will have them by Thursday.
The current Blue Wave campaign:
"Here's why this campaign matters so much. In 2024, Nevada went 50.59% to 47.49% to Trump, a popular vote difference of fewer than 50k votes. Since then, the state has seen over 50k new people move in. We’re writing to those folks and other new arrivals since the 2022 midterms, and we need your help.

But that’s not all. In 2024, Nevadans voted 64% to enshrine the right to abortion in the state constitution — but under Nevada law, a constitutional amendment has to pass twice. This November, voters decide it for good. One more yes vote and abortion rights are locked into the constitution, out of reach of any future legislature or court. One loss, and we start over.

At the same time, Nevadans are also deciding the governor's race — one of the most closely watched races in the country. Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford is challenging Republican incumbent Joe Lombardo in a race polling within a few points either way. Every ballot that gets filled out and turned in could be the margin.

The great news: Nevada automatically mails a ballot to every active registered voter. We need to make sure the state’s newest residents know how the system works and where to drop off ballots. NEW Nevadans — the exact voters who share our values and haven't voted in this state before — are the most likely to fall through the cracks. It’s up to us to make sure they don’t. "

However if I don't get the cards in time there are other actions to take. Including:
Training on voter ID laws
Planning a Visibility Brigade for Labor Day weekend (its been awhile since we have been out with our signs
If the weather is nice we can come back to my house after the meeting and have wine/food/social time. And be with Barb as she deals with the death of her good friend, Joe, who died last week.
Peace Gussie
PS: for anyone who did not get too watch the Stacey Abrams event two weeks ago....I have a link to the recording of the event. I highly recommend watching this as we go into this 2026 election season.
Peace
Gussie
