This Thursday I have another set of Blue Wave cards (200) to send out to people who may not have updated their voter registration after a change of address. Please bring some postcard stamps and your favorite pen.

Action 1: Prevent politicization of scientific and medical research.
A proposed rule by the Office of Management and Budget would politicize billions of dollars in federal grants by:
- Putting political appointees, not medical or scientific experts, in charge of what research gets funded, without input from any peer review.
- Allowing the government to cancel funding, without warning and for any reason, in the middle of ongoing work.
- Muzzling researchers by requiring pre-approval from the government before they can share their findings.
Submit a unique public comment: on the Federal Register by July 13, 2026, citing docket number OMB-2026-0034. Modify the above points or use your own. It’s important to tell your story regarding this issue. Simply choose one provision (e.g., ban on LGBTQ+ research, ban on international collaboration, or any grant at risk of being cancelled early) and explain how it would impact you as a member of the public, an individual with a specific disease, a researcher, etc.
Action 4: Time sensitive: Oppose the confirmation of an anti-science nominee.!
Script: Hello, I’m ______ from [ZIP], urging you to oppose the confirmation of Harold Duncan as deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget. Duncan does not respect congressional power of the purse and wants to give the executive branch the power to cancel crucial scientific and medical research funding. Please vote “NO” on Duncan’s confirmation.

This is the last 1st Thursday I have on the scheduled for meeting at the Nederland library (I can only book 6 moths out at a time at the library). Do we want to keep meeting here?
I would like to go to one working meeting a month and one social meeting. In between work, trying to rebuild the winery business and just every day life I am feeling a little overwhelmed.
