Moms Demand Action: For gun sense in America

Gun violence affects every person in this country directly or indirectly. Since 2015, over 19,000 people have been shot and wounded or killed in a mass shooting. In 2022 alone, over 600 people were killed, with over 2,700 wounded. Guns are the #1 killer of 18-25 year olds.

There have been 13 school shootings this year that resulted in injuries or deaths, according to an Education Week analysis.

As a nation we must do better.

The People's Power Collective is providing space to learn how we can take action.  Julie Ort, a representative from the Moms Demand Action Group, is coming to tell us about their organization and how we can get involved.

Taken from their webpage: Moms Demand Action is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for public safety measures that can protect people from gun violence. We pass stronger gun laws and work to close the loopholes that jeopardize the safety of our families. We also work in our own communities and with business leaders to encourage a culture of responsible gun ownership. We know that gun violence is preventable, and we’re committed to doing what it takes to keep families safe.
