May meeting of the Making Good Trouble Book Club

New month. New book. New location. We are meeting at the Influence Cafe, (3324 Secor Rd., Suite 2&3, Toledo). The May monthly read and topical discussion is The Education Wars: A Citizen’s Guide and Defense Manual by Jennifer Berkshire and Jack Schneider (ISBN: 9781620978542; 192 p.). We will split this short book into two book club meetings: the first four chapters (p.7-93) to read and discuss in May, and the last four chapters (p.94-177) to read and discuss in the June book club meeting.

The book provides a concise and useful tool for those who want to defend our public education system against privatization and right-wing extremism. The book gives practical strategies for parents, teachers, and community members committed to protecting public education as a “public good.”

Join us even if you have not had time to read it. We plan to cover several topics raised throughout the book that are relevant to our current situation.

There are limited available copies at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library. Copies can be purchased online or through your local bookstore.
