March Monthly Meeting

This month our program will address the plight of our public schools. You probably know that our schools now rank 50th in the country for funding. Our legislature has not finalized a budget and our public schools are suffering. Without a state budget, the counties of our state are left to either cut funding to schools or make up the difference. The Constitution of the State of NC requires the Legislature to provide a sound, basic education to all children of the state in public schools. The Legislature has been ignoring this mandate for decades. Please come and hear from Lynn Edmonds, a member of the Wake County School Board who will explain the issues with our public schools.
Our group is helping to organize a Legislative Public Education Advocacy Day on April 21, 2026. This presentation will set the stage and help you understand the issues that we will be discussing with legislators in April. Please come and meet Lynn and help us get ready for our biggest event of the year.
