Making Good Trouble Book Club: 1984 by George Orwell

We are meeting at the Influence Cafe (3324 Secor Rd., Suite 2 & 3, Toledo). Our next book club book is 1984 by George Orwell. (ISBN: 9780451524935  / 328 pages / 1977).

By popular vote, the next book on the reading list is George Orwell’s historical…er…neo-fictional account of a country under authoritarian rule. The novel is 328 pages in length, but don’t let that fool you. It is a quick read. This book transports people to a dystopian society controlled by an authoritarian government that continually watches every citizen, controlling what they see, read, hear, and think. 

Join us even if you have not had time to read it. We hope to cover several topics raised throughout the book that are relevant to our current situation.

Plenty of copies are available at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library.
