"Join RWB's July Banned Book Club for a conversation with Ryan Estrada, co-author of the graphic novel (ironically named) Banned Book Club. This is a memoir based on co-author’s Hyun Sook Kim's real-life experiences living under South Korea's military dictatorship in the 1980s
The book follows a college student who joins a secret reading group and discovers the power of books, free expression, and standing up to censorship. With censorship attempts increasing in the U.S., it is not surprising that Banned Book Club has faced challenges in some schools and libraries for its discussions of political activism and democracy.
