Kickoff Meeting- And so, the Adventure Begins......WELCOME TO THE TEAM!!!!

Hi Everyone in Highland, Fayette, Ross, Pike, and Adams counties!!!!

My name is Raven Whitney Tettemer. I’ve been working on the idea of a community action network for a long time and now, I finally have it ready to get it off the ground. I’ve spent decades working with many different charities and community groups. In this time, I’ve noticed that many of them face similar funding and volunteer challenges. I also know a lot of people that would happily help if asked directly, but aren’t comfortable showing up alone, really don’t know how to get plugged in, or don’t think they would be of any value due to disability or financial/time constraints. Why not bring everyone together?

We C.A.R.E. (Community, Action, Research, Education) is designed as to serve as a centralized “command center” of sorts for community organizations and community members to come together and leverage our skills and resources to get things done quicker and more efficiently. I want to have a forum where members from various groups (VAs, food banks, children’s groups, senior care centers, etc.) can provide information to the public on upcoming funding cuts and other challenges specific to their group that aren’t getting the any press coverage or seems too complicated for people outside of that field to understand. It will also be a place where groups can list and promote their fundraisers, community projects, etc.- so someone who wants to help can easily find and learn about opportunities that match their talents and time. We need to build our community now more than ever.

We’re all busy, so I’m trying to make participation as easy as possible. There is an official group page and a We C.A.R.E Facebook group, so we can communicate easier with each other. Most of our meetings will be held on Zoom, so you can participate wherever you are at that time. I will also have a list of “Pajama Pants Actions” that will list the various ways people can help without ever leaving the house.

Our group is part of the Red, Wine, & Blue Network an independent political action group. This partnership will allow us to access a ton of state and national information, resources, and will help us develop and coordinate actions plans. That being said, we are a separate, independent, and nonpartisan group.

If this interests you, I have provided the information needed to join below. I would also love if you would help me get the word out. Please send this information to any advocates, community service providers, and any other folks you think would like to participate. You can also share on your socials if you like. The more people we can get to be actively involved, the more we can achieve.

If you have any questions, please email me at [email protected]

Once you join, I will send you an invite to our Facebook group!
