Having Hard Conversations: A Workshop on Nonviolent Communication and Dialogue

We are excited to have Ashley Nickels, Associate Professor at the School of Peace and Conflict Studies at Kent State University, guide us through our next meeting.

This 45-minute workshop focuses on nonviolent communication (NVC) and dialogue, emphasizing practical approaches to having difficult conversations. Participants will work through the core principles of NVC and dialogue and apply them through role plays and real conversation scenarios, learning how to listen across differences, express needs without escalating conflict, and create shared understanding, not agreement. This workshop is structured around practice, so you leave with skills you can use, whether it is with a neighbor, a family member, a coworker, or someone whose views do not align with your own.

We will also have a quick primer about Ohio's Primary Election.
