Five Community Coalitions Announce Hands-Off! Transylvania Rally

 

Transylvania Partnership for Democracy, the NAACP, Transylvania Young Progressives, Transylvania County Democratic Party, and Good Trouble Transylvania announced an impactful lineup of speakers and a call to action for the upcoming Hands-Off Transylvania Rally.  

The rally, held in conjunction with the Hands Off! National Day of Action will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Transylvania County Courthouse Lawn and Gazebo from 1:00 PM- 3:00 PM. Everyone is invited to join and peacefully participate.

This is a local non-partisan event in connection with the nationwide mobilization to stop the destabilization of our government.  The nationwide protests on April 5th, spearheaded by Indivisible, 50501 Movement, Women’s March and many other organizations, are in response to the illegal cuts promoted by the Trump administration and the unauthorized “Department of Government Efficiency.”

Millions of voters who are dissatisfied with the actions of the Trump administration and the un-elected Elon Musk are standing up to fight back.   Americans across the country will stand together as we refuse:

●      the shuttering of our Social Security offices

●      the firing of essential workers

●      the denial of our veterans promised benefits

●      the elimination of consumer protections 

●      the mining of our public lands

●      the gutting of Medicaid and Medicare

●      their blatant disregard for our national security and standing in the global community

All of these actions seek to bankroll tax cuts for the wealthy and weaken our position as a global leader. They are taking everything they can get their hands on—our health care, our data, our jobs, our services, OUR LAND—and daring the world to stop them. This is a crisis, and the time to act is now.

On Saturday, April 5th, we're gathering to fight back with one demand: Hands Off!  Join local partner organizations representing millions of Americans to show that we are engaged residents who care about the well-being of our community and about following the rules of our democracy.
