The Kennedy Center is supposed to be the nation’s cultural center, a joyful and fitting memorial to a president who affirmed that the arts are “very close to the center of a nation’s purpose.”

Our allies at Hands Off the Arts invite you to join Hands Around the Kennedy Center  on Friday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m. to stand up for freedom of expression and against authoritarian overreach into arts and culture institutions. 

Under Trump’s incompetent leadership of the Center’s Board, the Kennedy Center is nearly dormant. Furthermore, its mismanagement will have an impact on arts education programs across the country. This is not the Kennedy Center that we have loved, nor is it the one the nation deserves.

Hands Around the Kennedy Center will celebrate the Kennedy Center, its staff, and all the artists past, present, and future who have graced its stages, allowing those of us who love the Kennedy Center to celebrate the Center’s past and reclaim its future.
