Gearing Up for the 2026 Legislative Session

Greetings!

We will  gather on January 6th at St. Andrews Lutheran Church at 209 Colorado Avenue in Ames.  Doors will open at 6:30pm and the program will begin at 7pm.

Three local legislators - Senator Herman Quirmbach, Representative Beth Wessel-Kroeschell and Representative Ross Wilburn – will discuss the upcoming Iowa legislative session and identify goals and challenges.  This is a chance to ask your questions about the legislative process, specific issues that matter most to you, and to determine how you want to engage in the session this year.  We are fortunate to have legislators who make time to talk with constituents.

We will also have multiples ways to engage in our community including: a service project for Martin Luther King Day on January 19th, writing birthday cards for residents at the Iowa Veterans Home, writing cards for another organization that supports veterans in hospice, learning about an new organizing strategy being led by AMOS (A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy), and writing postcards to Iowa voters for the Postcards to Swing States project.  There will be a place for you to engage!

We look forward to seeing you.  Until then, stay safe and warm and celebrate the good we can find each day.

Ellen, Laura and Wendy
