Fighting Mid-Decade Gerrymandering & Redistricting in NC

Redistricting has been all over the news lately, especially in TX and CA. Last month the NC General Assembly passed a new congressional district plan to secure a Republican advantage in the state's 14 US House seats. Governor Stein cannot veto it under state law - allowing the General Assembly to enact new maps with a simple majority!

Redistricting without oversight by an independent commission is very unpopular among Americans of all political leanings. So why did this new district plan pass? How can it affect 2026 and 2028 election results? And what does it mean for voting integrity and voter rights in North Carolina?
