February 18th, 2026 Book Club Meeting

February is Black History Month. We are offering 4 different nonfiction selections. Please read whichever one you want. We will discuss the common themes prevalent in Black History and for Black women.

Book Selections:

  1. Don't Let Them Bury My Story: The Oldest Living Survivor of the Tulsa Race Massacre In Her Own Words by Viola Ford Fletcher and her grandson Ike Howard.
    1. This book is incredibly hard to find. I got a hardback copy through Amazon, which is scheduled to arrive on Dec. 30th. It appears to have been a very limited run. If you can find it, it's 104 pages.
  2. Black Birds in the Sky: The Story and Legacy of the 1921 Tulsa Massacre by Brandy Colbert
    1. This is a youth-friendly book. It's available in all formats and is 224 pages.
  3. His Eye Is On The Sparrow: An Autobiography by Ethel Waters with Charles Samuel.
    1. Mostly in paperback and is 304 pages.
    2. This book is not about the Tulsa Massacre.
  4. Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre by Carole Boston Weatherford
    1. This book is very short at 32 pages and aimed at a reading age of 7-12 years old.

The meeting is in the semi-private room to the right inside the front door.

All are welcome to attend if interested in discussing the book and/or its premise and themes. You do not have to read all or any of the book to take part.

Our meeting will change to virtual in the event of inclement weather. Everyone who RSVPs will receive a Zoom link.
