FCPS Board of Education Meeting

Please come out and speak at the first 2024-2025 Board of Education meeting for the new school year. MAGA extremists and M4L attended the last BOE meeting in August to try to appeal the results of a book review. We would like to thwart their book banning efforts by filling the meetings with allies. If you are worried about speaking, that is ok, we can send you something pre-made to help.
Sign up yourself or your kids(students are priority for the meetings!). We will collaborate with RWB to be sure we are maximizing our message. Sign up early since the meeting fills quickly.

Public Comment Procedures for Board of Education Meetings
The Board of Education views public comment as an opportunity to hear concerns from the public, with the understanding and expectation that it is not considered a question-and-answer platform with Board members. The Board has adopted Policy 102 to create additional ways to sign-up and provide public comment. All public comment will be limited to three (3) minutes per speaker.
Preregistration: There will be five (5) slots for students and ten (10) slots for the general public to preregister for public comment in advance. Please preregister by completing the Board of Education - Public Comment Request Form or by calling (301) 696-6965. Preregistration will open five (5) days in advance of each scheduled Board meeting concurrent with the public posting of the meeting agenda, and will close two (2) days before the scheduled Board meeting.
Same-Day/Walk-In Registration: For those persons wishing to speak who do not preregister or who are not selected to speak from those who do preregister, the Board will provide the opportunity for five (5) additional slots for public comment thirty (30) minutes in advance of the evening meeting. Registration will close no later than five (5) minutes prior to the start of the evening meeting.
Written Comments: Individuals are provided the opportunity to and encouraged to submit written comments electronically and email them to [email protected]. Written comments must be submitted as a PDF attachment (strongly preferred) or a Microsoft Word document with the .doc or .docx extension and will be uploaded to BoardDocs as part of the official meeting record. Comments in the body of an email will not be accepted.
