Election Security: Do We Have to Worry?

Perhaps many of us take the right to vote, the opportunity to vote for granted. Yet, we hear a lot about threats to our elections and election security. The Supreme Court has gutted the Voting Rights Act. The Iowa Legislature has changed the process and timeline for requesting an absentee ballot, changed how voters drop off absentee ballots, and modified other aspects of the voting process.
Four of our Democracy Every Day members will participate in a three-part training series during July designed to help our community not just defend the elections but grow a proactive, movement-building response that demands a more robust democracy beyond the ballot count. They will share what they learn with all of us.
Please join us on Tuesday, August 4th at St. Andrews Lutheran Church. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the event starts at 7:00pm. Bring a friend to learn about election security and how you can take action. We will also continue our focus on getting out of the vote for the November mid-term elections and supporting candidates.
