Defending Public Education in South Carolina

This Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Jennifer Rainville (Education Policy Attorney at SC Appleseed Legal Justice Center), will speak and answer your questions about the very real, right wing, extremist assault in SC on public education, including: defunding of public education, diversion of public funds to private schools; the new PragerU curriculum  approved by Ellen Weaver (which just happened Monday); criminalizing our youth for normal childhood behaviors; national trends (Plyer v Doe concerns, CRT, and elimination of social emotional learning); and how/where you can  get involved to facilitate positive change on behalf of our children.

In her position as Education Policy Attorney at South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center, Jennifer fights to eliminate systemic education barriers for children. She has spent her entire legal career fighting for low-income children and families in South Carolina. Jennifer assists in all areas of education including school enrollment, school discipline, and special education.

Prior to her work at Appleseed, Jennifer provided direct representation to low-income families at South Carolina Legal Services, where she kept hundreds of children in school with appropriate services to help them be successful in their education.
