About the Event:

Transgender people are our neighbors, coworkers, classmates, friends, and family members. Yet too many people have never had the opportunity to hear directly from a transgender person about their life, their hopes, and what it means to simply be themselves.

Building a Colorado where everyone belongs starts with conversation.

That's why One Colorado is bringing together community members from across the state for our Power Building Summit. Whether you're a seasoned advocate or showing up for the first time, this summit will equip you with the skills, confidence, and community needed to help create a more welcoming and inclusive Colorado.

Research consistently shows that stories change hearts more effectively than facts alone. When people connect through shared values, relationships, and lived experiences, understanding grows. This summit is designed to help you become part of that work.

What to expect:

  • Storytelling & Shared Values: Learn how personal stories can build understanding, strengthen communities, and create lasting change.
  • Community Organizing Skills: Develop practical tools for engaging your neighbors, building relationships, and growing people power in your community.
  • Leadership Development: Explore ways to take action, develop your leadership, and help create a Colorado where everyone can thrive.
This isn't just a training. It's an opportunity to meet people who share your values, develop new skills, and become part of a growing movement working toward a Colorado where every person can live openly, safely, and with dignity.

You'll leave with new connections, practical skills, and a clear path to continued involvement in your community.

Because creating a Colorado where everyone belongs starts with all of us showing up, sharing our stories, and building power together.

What Each Day Covers

Day 1: Leadership & Organizing Institute

Thursday is open to anyone who wants to build deeper organizing, outreach, and leadership skills. It is required for lead volunteers, training leads, staff, and organizational representatives.

This day focuses on community organizing, making strong asks, volunteer leadership, team-building, and preparing people to move others into action.

Day 2: Understanding the Issues & Building Connections
Participants will learn about current challenges facing LGBTQ+ and transgender communities in Colorado, explore the role of storytelling in social change, and build skills for engaging others in thoughtful conversations grounded in shared values.

Day 3: Community Action & Civic Engagement
Participants will put the training into action through canvassing, phone banking, relational organizing, and other team-based outreach.

Expectations for Lead Volunteers & Organizational Representatives

Lead volunteers and organizational representatives are expected to attend all three days of the summit. Day 1 is specifically designed for this group and will prepare participants to serve as leaders, facilitators, and community connectors within their organizations and local communities.

Community members who are not serving in a leadership role are welcome to attend all three days. Want to serve in a leadership role? Tell us in your registration!
