Celebrating the Declaration of Independence and Democracy

celebrate with joy, in spite of the distress due to the current administration...
After the crazy 4th of July of this year, commemorated sadly by many, rather than happily celebrated, when the semiquincentennial was barely able to survive the grift and additional actions of the regime (e.g. the ruined reflecting pool, outrageous take over of what could have been an amazing festival of festivals organised by the Smithsonian, and so much more), it seems appropriate to (as so often is the case) follow Heather Cox Richardson's lead, and celebrate on the 2nd of August, when the declaration was finally signed.
The history is complicated, and it is fortunate that the National Archives information, last updated in 2018, can still be accessed, unlike so many important things currently being purged... (Contents of both of the above links have been saved as pdfs, anyway, just in case!)

You are invited for a wonderful Resisters get-together!
Let's resist by celebrating with joy, another theme of our many good examples out there, for instance, Joyce Vance and Jessica Craven!   (Again, we will wait for your RSVPs to send the zoom link...)

Please try to have someone else with you to celebrate...
Do a brunch, perhaps?  =)
