Richie Harper is a lawyer, policy and data analyst, and strategic storyteller who specializes in using data and historical context to explore and explain the social, economic, and health-related concerns of communities. His work focuses on developing more equitable service delivery, decision-making, and community engagement.
Growing up on Canton's SW side, Richie witnessed the hardships faced by his loved ones as they fought to navigate a daunting system for even the most basic necessities. He was also no stranger to the tragedy of losing friends to violence in his community.Driven by these experiences, Richie actively pursued meaningful connections, knowledge, and opportunities that would enable him to uplift and support his community.
Ultimately, Richie became a first generation college graduate when he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kent State in 2015. Richie worked in the Ohio Statehouse for Representative Stephen Slesnick and for Canton Mayor's, William Healy and Thomas Bernabei, before going on to receive his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University in 2019. After graduating, Richie returned home and worked as the Training and Initiatives Manager in the Stark County Prosecutor's Office. Following his time in the Prosecutor’s Office, Richie worked for the U.S. House of Representatives as the Stark County Field Representative.
Richie resides in Canton with his wife, Katie, and sons, Chandler, Theo, Holden, and Obi (his favorite fur son!)
