Candlelight Vigil for Justice and Solidarity

Our community in Escondido is grieving. What has happened in Minneapolis has shaken us to our core — the loss of life, the violence, the fear, and the cruelty inflicted on our neighbors in another city reverberate all the way here at home. We refuse to look away. We refuse to become numb. We refuse to accept a world where human beings can be terrorized, detained, or killed in our streets.
We gather in sorrow, in anger, and in love.
This vigil is a peaceful, respectful space for our community to come together — to mourn the lives that were taken, to stand with Minneapolis, and to say clearly that we reject the brutality carried out by federal immigration enforcement. We are disgusted by the cruelty of this regime and the tactics that resemble those of a secret police force. Our outrage comes from a place of deep care for our neighbors, our families, and every person who deserves dignity and safety.
We will hold candles, share space, and lift up the values that define us: compassion, solidarity, and the unwavering belief that every human life matters.
This is a nonviolent, community centered gathering. All are welcome to join us in grief, reflection, and collective strength.
Bring a candle, a light, or simply your presence.
Together, we honor the life lost — and we recommit ourselves to building a world where this never happens again.
