Bay Area Troublemakers February 21, 2026, Meeting

What do you know about the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE)? The SBOE sets statewide policy for public schools, including curriculum standards, instructional materials, funding oversight, and rule approval. The board has 15 members, currently 10 Republicans and 5 Democrats. The Clear Lake area and League City includes Districts 7 and 8, and we have two strong Democrats running to replace the incumbent Republicans.

Tiffany Perkinz is running for SBOE District 7, and Dana Van De Walker is running for District 8. Both candidates will speak at our February 21 meeting to share their perspectives on the State Board of Education, why they’re running, and what their priorities will be. There will be plenty of time for your questions.

Join us at noon on February 21 at South Shore Grill to meet the candidates. Simply RSVP for the meeting on the Bay Area Troublemakers’ landing page.

Our sister group, Bay Area Liberal Ladies, will be hosting lunch before the meeting beginning at 11 a.m. All are welcome to join for good conversation and community building. To attend lunch, please RSVP on MeetUp: Bay Area Liberal Ladies | Meetup.

See you on February 21!
