"Back to Class with Cake" watch party

Westside Resisters is headed to CLASS with Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny ). Join us as we have a watch party of his 1st in a series of lectures from his History class at University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy entitled "Hitler and Stalin Today"

We will also be decorating some boxes to create a 3-D birthday CAKE to display in September at the constitution day celebration on the 17th at Beaverton City Park. There might even be some real cake involved for us all to enjoy! 

Here is a little more about the class. 

We speak often about history, but we are careless with the past. When we choose not to know what has happened before, we are also choosing not to influence what will happen after. If we don't care about history, we find ourselves in an eternal present, denied any sort of imagination about the future, and nurtured on lies about a past in which we were innocent. History does not mean these misleading tales; it means a search for knowledge, using a certain set of tools; it means a process that enriches and humanizes, one that allows us to name things by their proper names.

Timothy Snyder holds the inaugural Chair in Modern European History, supported by the Temerty Endowment for Ukrainian Studies, at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. He is also a permanent fellow at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna and the head of the academic advisory council of Ukrainian History Global Initiative.
