An Evening of Action

November 4th is an election day across the country for state, local and municipal elections.  Because St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, our usual gathering place, is a polling location, we will meet at the Village Cooperative at 2525 Bobcat Drive in Ames.  You can park in the lot for the Coop. However if it is full, please go to the parking lot for the City Church of Ames, which is across the street at 2400 Oakwood Road.

The No Kings! rally on October 18th was an impressive event. 1,500 people in Ames,  7 million people across the country, all raising their voices for democracy.  It can't stop there.  So we are planning an Evening of Action.  We will create hygiene kits for Kate Mitchell elementary school and have opportunities for you to sign up to support the school in other important ways. Although Iowa has no state-wide elections, there are important races across the country, particularly in New York City, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. We will watch election returns as we are able to find them.

We would like this to be a time of fellowship, an opportunity to visit with other members, get to know each other better, and maybe even brainstorm ideas for future actions.  Feel free to bring an art or craft project to work on.  We'll have snacks and beverages as always.
